A few updates of interest
Good Thursday morning to you all. I’ve had what I simply call “one of those weeks,” where I had many places to be over a relatively short period of time. I have visited referral sources in four states this week!
So here we go….
As you no doubt remember, I was in an accident a couple of weeks ago and the car is now in the care of the body shop associated with our local Honda dealer. They had done crash damage repairs for us in the past and we were pleased with the results, so decided to take the car there. As is the usual process, they arrived at a total amount of damage and submitted it to my insurance company and the proposal was accepted. They began work on repairing what was damaged this past Monday, but yesterday I received a call from the estimator that as they removed some of the damaged body parts they uncovered several other areas that will require replacement or at least repair. Per agreement with my insurer, they will submit these findings and get approval to address those while they continue working on the items already approved. Car should be back in our possession late next week.
Interestingly, the driver who accidentally struck my car with his and started the chain reaction of impacts just had his claim approved by, ironically, the same insurance company that I use. So my adjuster was going to review with his adjuster. I don’t know what that might change, but I would welcome reimbursement of my deductible payment of $500!
We also have a household issue that required addressing. Our clothes dryer is eleven years old, which makes it almost an antique in modern appliance terms. It began making a horrible screeching sound a week or two ago, and from what I learned online, that almost always means that the bearings in the dryer drum motor are gone. Given the age of the item, it seemed a better course to go ahead and replace it.
So my wife and I went together to Best Buy, our primary supplier of appliances and electronics. They had very few electric dryers on display that were not the stackable kind, and since our washer isn’t stackable, that was not going to work for us. Saw a couple that would probably work but told the associate we’d think about it.
Went down the street to Lowe’s, where we generally buy things for home repair, painting supplies and the like, but never an appliance. They had better selection on the floor, and after a little searching we found a model very close to what we currently have, and at a good price. It seems it’s a model that is being discontinued, which we didn’t mind. Controls are nearly identical to our current dryer, it’s the same brand and it will arrive on Saturday.
But this isn’t without some inconvenience. I got an alert yesterday saying that our order did not include haul away of our old dryer, which I told the clerk we wanted and assumed he added it to the order. He did not, so I told my wife from my travels where the receipt was, and she took it, verified we needed to add the removal fee and added it. All set.
And Sunday is Father’s Day! If you’re a dad, enjoy it, as I will. If your dad is still with us, spend some time with him, in person, on a video call or on the phone. He’ll appreciate it, and you will too!
Lovely 🥰
