There are times
Good Monday morning! I'm off today, and spent a couple of hours on some much needed yard work yesterday and again this morning. Shortly I will collect my younger grandson and take him to lunch and shopping, as he graduates eighth grade tonight and turns 14 on Friday!
Have had a decent bit of success in getting things resolved with product and service sellers and manufacturers. Not that I have all that many problems, but it's nice to get things the way we want them, right?
Let's start with a simple thing. I bought my wife a new screen protector for her iPhone. Turns out I bought a three-pack, and ruined the first one attempting to install it. Not happy. The second one went on pretty well, but I saw that there were some bubbles and marks on it and advised my wife to go to the Apple Store and get a better one there. She saw that I had failed to peel off the protective coating on this protective cover and the guy at the Apple Store was kind enough to point out that it didn't need replacing.
In the interim, I sought and received a return from Amazon and got my money back. I also wrote a negative review of the product. Then the manufacturer, a company called ESR that makes tech accessories, contacted me and said they were also going to see to it that Amazon refund my money at ESR's expense. And then they offered to send me a replacement to regain my confidence. One of my grandkids needed a new screen cover so I asked for the replacement to fit her phone. Got it last week. That was a nice gesture!
My cellphone carrier informed me last Wednesday that I had nearly exhausted my data allotment with eight days left in the month. I bought a gigabyte of data hoping it would tide me over, but wasn't confident it would, so engaged an agent and went through a chat to see what other plans were available. Found that they have a first-level unlimited plan and it was only a little more than I was already paying. So did all of the steps to change my plan, but not until the 23rd.
Then I found that I was still using more data than would be available, even with my boost. This was on Saturday. So did the same process, the agent was nice and didn't understand why her counterpart was so insistent on waiting until the 23rd for me to change plans, and redid it to make it immediate. Problem solved!
I think I've mentioned how much I like my iPad Air, which is now an M3 model, and use it a lot when I travel. Noticed that a piece on my keyboard case was coming apart and attempted to repair it. So decided to see what Logitech, the maker of this case, would do for me. A lot of back and forth and seeming extra steps but she finally was able to verify that it was still under warranty and that they would likely replace it, once final approval was granted after three days. That was unexpected, because their website specifically states that this product carries a one year warranty, and I've had it for at least two years!
I also recently got some periodic maintenance done on my car, a 2021 Honda Passport. Bought it at a dealer with whom I had some issues some years ago. Have taken the car there for recall issues, but nothing else. Decided that I would be better off using a Honda dealer for all of this work (timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, valve adjustment and two other things I added), and my decision paid off. It was no cheaper than it would have been elsewhere, but we got the car in on a Monday and it was ready the following day. About as good as one can ask.
So I don't look for things to break or cease to function, but given the roll I'm on, I suppose now would be a good time for something else to crop up!
